Greater Indy Red Cross assists Avon Creek Apartments residents
The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis responded to a fire at the Avon Creek Apartments in Avon Wednesday morning. Red Cross caseworkers worked one-on-one with the 8 families displaced to address their immediate disaster-caused needs for food, clothing, shelter and other necessities, including emotional support. Between Avon Creek Apartments, friends and family and the American Red Cross, everyone affected has a place to stay over the holidays.
The Greater Indianapolis Red Cross Mobile Feeding Unit was also on the scene providing hot drinks and snacks to those affected and first responders.
The most common disaster in central Indiana is the home fire. Since Thanksgiving, the Greater Indianapolis Red Cross has responded to over 40 fires, helping nearly 60 families get back on their feet.
The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to respond to disasters and other emergencies. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by the voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
