Six central Indiana residents honored at Red Cross Hall of Fame presented by Conseco April 7



The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis celebrated six central Indiana residents, whose actions or service embody the core humanitarian values of the Red Cross, at the Hall of Fame Awards presented by Conseco on April 7th at the Conrad Indianapolis.

2010 Red Cross Hall of Fame Awards Honorees

  • Robert E. Skaggs, Fortville and Lonnie Hood, Indianapolis - for saving a man who was trapped in the cab of a burning tanker-truck.




  • Ernie Alder, Greenfield - for enriching the lives of thousands of young people through the Indiana State Police Summer Camps and the Indiana State Police Youth Education and Historical Center.




  • Gayle Hutchens, Indianapolis - for creatively channeling the power of the human-animal bond to help at-risk youth; shelter and rescue dogs; and individuals with special needs through Paws and Think, Inc.



  • Jack Rodman, Noblesville - for taking the appropriate action in an emergency situation by safely steering a truck through darkened residential streets and bringing it to a stop in a cornfield, after his father lost consciousness while driving.



  • Andrea De Mink, Indianapolis - for reaching out to people experiencing homelessness in the spirit of genuine friendship through The PourHouse, Inc., a unique outreach and advocacy that desires to see them restored to a place of dignity and wholeness of person.
