Red Cross disaster workers provide care and comfort to Oxmoor Apartments residents displaced from their homes by early evening fire
The Greater Indianapolis Red Cross has helped four families following a fire Tuesday evening at the Oxmoor Apartments in the 3600 block of North Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Marion County Disaster Action Team members were on the scene reaching out to displaced residents to address their immediate disaster-caused needs. The volunteers and staff caseworkers have provided emergency assistance for food, clothing and shelter. Residents should be able to move into available units by the end of the week.
The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to respond to disasters and other emergencies. Since July 1, 2009, the Greater Indianapolis Red Cross has assisted more than 440 families (over 1,400 individuals) who have been affected by home fires. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by the voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
