More Indiana Red Cross volunteers answer the call to help in Tennessee

Five disaster workers are on their way to join fellow Red Cross volunteers from central Indiana to provide much-needed help to weary Tennesseans.

Mary Frances Friedl of Rushville, Kay Litteral of Montpelier, and Dorann Ramsey of Muncie are volunteering as Client Caseworkers. Caseworkers meet one on one with families to identify their disaster-caused needs such as food, clothing, housing, healthcare and emotional support; help them develop long term recovery plans; and provide emergency assistance as needed.

Stephen Schiller and Rodney Smith, both of Carmel, also are scheduled to arrive today. Schiller will provide client casework; Smith will be part of a mobile feeding team aboard an Emergency Response Vehicle driving through the affected neighborhoods and serving meals and snacks to residents.

Lori Burts of Indianapolis, Rick Gilmore of Fishers and Tanya Howe of Frankfort arrived in Nashville last evening. Burts is supervising a Red Cross shelter. Gilmore is providing spiritual care. Howe is an RN working in Health Services helping people with their healthcare needs.

Barbara Cross and Andy Umberger of Muncie have been providing Red Cross assistance down south since the first part of May. Cross is serving in Staff Relations, interacting with the various Red Cross disaster response groups and supporting the relief operation workforce. Umberger is also an RN in Health Services.
