Don't let your guard down - Red Cross Flood Safety Tips

Another day, another storm? With central Indiana being battered day after day or night after night, as the case may be, by severe storms, but with no major, widespread damage, it could become easy to dismiss all the Watches and Warnings and just carry on as usual. But wouldn't it be awful if during the next siege you didn't turn on your weather radio and you didn't hear that they were evacuating your community; or you drove around that barricade and through the high water and your car got carried away by the current?

Another day, another storm? Probably, but that is no excuse to become complacent. Floods can take up to several hours or a few days to develop; flash floods can take only a few minutes to a few hours to develop. Go to the Be Red Cross Ready section of this Web site to learn more about flood safety.
